Apartment Wishlist: The Bedroom

Apartment Wishlist: Bedroom
Bedding / Flowers / Nightstand / Tapestry / Owl Lamp / Throw Blanket / Pillow

Well, almost a week until I move into my new apartment! To say I'm excited is a littleeeee bit of an understatement, haha!

Today I'm sharing my wishlist for my bedroom! I probably won't actually be buying a whole lot for my bedroom, so this wishlist is kind of a 'if I could buy anything I want for my bedroom, what would I get?' kind of thing. I already have things like bedding, pillows, blankets, etc, but they are getting a little ratty and I would love to replace them when I am able to. The only thing I'm definitely looking to buy is a nightstand like the one in the top corner; I need to start scouring garage sales and thrift stores! Plus, look at that tapestry in the bottom right; is it not absolutely beautiful?

Well, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday! I'll be sharing my bathroom and living room wishlists next week, and the week after that I'll officially have my new apartment to show off!

Apartment Wishlist: Kitchen

Apartment Wishlist: Kitchen

Guys, I'm moving into a new apartment in less than 2 weeks! I don't know why I never mentioned it on the blog before now, but I'm so excited! Not that I don't mind living with my parents (free rent, woo!), but commuting to school was such a pain. So now I'll be moving back to my college town and living with some friends from the marching band! The thing I'm most excited about (other than decorating, haha) is being able to be just a walk away from school, friends, and everything else, really!

Anyway, onto the topic of this post! One of the things I'm most excited about is being able to furnish and decorate this apartment from scratch. And the first thing that I started shopping for was the kitchen, which is weird because I absolutely hate cooking, haha! Maybe having a cute little kitchen will make me want to learn? Who knows...

I'd say my home decor 'style' is kind of all over the place; I like kitschy, interesting, mis-matched things. Basically, I just want our kitchen to be cute, cozy, and functional! Since I don't have a lot of expendable income (broke college kid right here), I'll definitely be scouring thrift stores for a lot of my kitchen-ware, so I will definitely be getting that 'mis-matched' look!

What's your kitchen must-haves that I should add to my list?

Bedroom Tour

As promised, today I'm sharing some photos of my bedroom! It's a bit of a hodgepodge of styles, but it's cozy and I love it!

One of my favorite things about my room is that my desk, chair, and dresser were all made by my grandma in her high school shop class. Isn't that cool?
Natural light is my favorite kind of light! I wish I had more windows.
I love this little corner of my room. The Doctor Who print can be found here, the clock was my grandmas, and the 'Live Your Dream' piece was made by yours truely!
I really love this picture I put together for above my bed. In high school, when I was really struggling with depression, Skylar would leave me little notes all around my room for me to find, and he left all these post-its on my window one day. I couldn't bear to throw them away, so I made them into a piece of art!
Like I mentioned before, I just recently joined a fraternity, and this is the paddle my big made me, isn't it so adorable?
If you look on the left of this photo, that is my big basket of nail polish :)
I love this calendar. It doesn't seem like they have one for next year, though :/
I made a tutorial for this 2013 memory jar earlier this year, and I'm still filling it up! I can't wait to open it up at the end of the year!

There you have it!

I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!

Bedroom Tour!

Artwork by yours truly
Today I'm going to give you a tour of my little bedroom in my apartment! I wanted to snap a few pictures, since this was my first apartment and I'll be moving back home at the end of the semester!
Quite possibly my favorite part of the room, my instagram wall! Very excited to recreate this when I move back home with more recent pictures. Would anyone be interested in a tutorial the next time I do one of these?
As you will most likely notice throughout this post, I have a horrible candle hording problem. I'm not going to lie, Yankee Candle had a sale this weekend and I bought 3 more. No shame!
My desk space, one of my other favorite parts of the room. I've been adding things to this wall all year, so it's going to be kind of sad when I have to take it all down.
My sad little book area. I have way more books at home, I just brought a few of my favorites to the apartment. I can't want until I have a bookshelf again! Also, note I am still going strong on my Memory Jar!
My bulletin board; it's definitely a little outdated, but it still makes me smile. Things of note: that ridiculous picture of my band director from high school, corsage from my senior prom (it's three years old, I'm surprised it's still there haha), and a little horton the elephant from when I was in Seussical the Musical!
This guitar is something that I will probably be so upset if I ever lose or have to get rid of. Skylar hand painted this, and gave it to me after asking me out at my junior prom! It was basically the cutest thing ever.
More evidence of my candle addiction.
Well, there you have it! I did bypass my closet area, mostly because it is a disaster, and I want to put off cleaning it for as long as possible haha. Such a procrastinator.

Anyways, happy Tuesday!

Room Inspiration

Even though I've definitely got a few months until this semester is over, I am currently day-dreaming about when I get to move back home! As a 19-year old college student, I feel like I shouldn't be this excited about moving back in with my parents for a relatively permanent amount of time, but I really am. I'll be saving so much money, and I'll be able to re-connect with all of my Genoa friends! Anyways, I've decided that since I'll be moving back, I want to re-decorate my bedroom. It's not that it looks ugly or anything, it just reminds me of high school so much. I want to change it to reflect this new chapter in my life. I want to get out of the past!

Here's what it looked like while I was a senior in high school. Also, notice the intense mane I got goin' on.

My tentative plan is to clear everything out and start painting over spring break, so when I am done for the semester, I can just move all of my stuff in without dealing with anything that's already in there. I've already got some paint colors and such in mind, but here's some images that I've been inspired by!

This is the first DIY project that popped into my head when I decided to re-decorate. I got a desk from my grandma (that she actually built herself in her high school shop class back in the 50s...so cool!) for my apartment, and I would love to get a big mirror to prop on top of it and make a makeshift vanity!

I've been intrigued by the idea of using a window as a "headboard" of sorts. I feel like, throughout the years, I've basically re-arranged my room every single way possible, except for in this fashion. For some reason, I just thought you weren't supposed to put a bed up against a window. Well, maybe you aren't because of feng shui or something, but oh well. This is definitely a contender for bed placement.

wooded tones
This is what I'm thinking color-scheme wise, a combination of these palates. That bright blue color my room is painted now is pretty, but so loud. I want to be able to relax! I might paint the walls more of a light grey-ish purple, which isn't really shown on either of these.

The rest of the images are just random inspirations :)
