What I Wore: Cut-offs and a Wild Kitty!

Outfit Details:
Sweater: Forever 21 // T-Shirt: JC Penny // Shorts: Walmart
Shoes: Converse // Sunglasses: Raybans

As I was taking these outfit photos, I came across a wild Star in her natural habitat...hah just kidding. She's an indoor kitty, but she gets so excited when you let her outside. She'll eat grass until she pukes and sits under our deck for hours.

So, this outfit isn't all that exciting, but I've been in a weird situation lately: it's been hot as hell outside, but in the computer labs where I work, it's freezing as tits. So I have to decide if I would rather be more comfortable at work, or more comfortable while walking there. I usually choose the prior. So my solution is lots of summer layers! It works quite well :)

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Custom lovers double portrait in a locket - Made on order
I was browsing through Les Folles Marquises' lovely jewelery, and I found that they custom-make the cutest little lockets for couples! I would loveee one of me and Skylar! (Not wedding themed, of course!)

Rad Enough
One of my friends from high school just started an awesome clothing company called Rad Enough, and they recently released these awesome tank tops! I totally want one, they look so soft and comfy!
A Subtle Revelry
Oh my god, how excited would you be if someone baked you a cake that said "yay" in it? Aw this is seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen! The link gives a recipe and tutorial, and it doesn't even look all that difficult!

Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky mentioned this Doctor Who themed wedding in one of her posts last week, and it's so perfect I had to share! I love how you can clearly tell it's Dr. Who themed, but it's still glamorous and elegant! I can't.

Sea Green Bear - Shrink Plastic Brooch
This Etsy Shop has some of the cutest brooches and prints! I would love to own this little guy!

I hope you have a lovely Friday :D

Photo an Hour: Forced Family Fun Time

Like I mentioned in my last outfit post, last weekend, Skylar and I attended my family reunion! Here's some photos of the day, (mostly) broken down by the hour.

12pm // You can tell Skylar wasn't as thrilled as I was to be there, because he didn't know anyone. Poor guy.

1pm // It was a bit crazy, because this reunion was so large, we all had nametags with who we "descended" from on them! I only really knew about 7 people there, and there was at least 150. Crazy!
Since Skylar wasn't technically related to anyone, his nametag just said "Guess who I am" haha!

2pm // Required family mingling. Here's my Dad and brother being weird.

3pm // Snackin'. I was so hungry! (NOTE: If you have anything against animals being cooked whole, LOOK AWAY FROM THE NEXT PICTURE)

4pm // I was slightly suprised to find that they were cooking a WHOLE DAMN PIG for dinner. Whaaat? I'm not gonna lie, it was delicious though. Haha! (I don't mean to offend anyone with this picture, I just thought it was crazy that it was happening!)

5pm // Skylar and I decided to venture into the woods to explore! I found lots of neat stuff, and I made friends with a toad!

6pm // Playin' a little baseball (well, my dad and brother playing baseball, Skylar and I just sat on the ground throwing grass at each other, because we are 5 years old.)

There you have it :) After we got home, I basically just threw some sweatpants on and sat on the couch for the rest of the evening, so you don't really want to see pictures of that, haha!

I hope you are all having a lovely Tuesday!

What I Wore: Family Reunion

Outfit Details:
Dress: Target // Sweater: Thrifted (Originally from Forever 21)
Camera Bag: JoTotes // Shoes: Charlotte Russe

I love when it's cool enough out to wear a sweater, but still nice enough for bare legs! I had a nice little family reunion at the park this last weekend, and originally I was sort of dreading it, because it was supposed to be 90 degrees and super humid! Thankfully, it was pretty cloudy, so the temperature was perfect for a family picnic :)

Guys, I finally purchased a bag from JoTotes, and I am so happy I did! It's so convenient if you're like me and want to have a camera on you at all times, but don't want to have to stuff it in your purse or carry around those ugly black camera bags. I am basically in love with it!

Well, I am off for the day! I'll be sharing some pictures of said family reunion in the coming week, which was a bit crazy actually (they cooked a whole effin' pig, you could see it's face and everything!) I hope you have a lovely Monday!

New Camera Part 1: the Samsung WB200 Smart Camera!

This past week I have been going crazy in the electronics department; I now have 2 new cameras! And today I will be talking about my new point-and-shoot, the Samsung WB200! Although I love my DSLR (and will be discussing my new one in the coming week!), sometimes it's nice to have a point-and-shoot on hand when you don't want to carry around something big and bulky. I was a bit weary, since I am a loyal Nikon user, but let me tell you, this camera is great. It's a "Smart Camera," which I didn't even know existed until now, but dang it's so cool! It has a touch-screen (great for focusing!) with Wi-Fi Direct, meaning you can send your pictures right to facebook (or where ever else).

It's great, because I feel like Skylar always rolls his eyes at me when I get out my big DSLR all the time to take photos of random stuff, so this is definitely more 'inconspicuous' I guess haha. He even came with me to buy it! If you're interested in our shopping excursion, you can see some ridiculous pictures here.

Here's some photos that I've taken with it:
"Facebook Pic!"

Most of these photos were taken at my family reunion that just happened this weekend, expect to see more pictures soon :) At a family reunion, it's not weird (well, as weird) to be wielding 3 different cameras at once, so I was excited I got to try out both my new cameras at once without anyone really judging me, haha.

Also, check out Samsung's Twitter and Facebook for more information on their cameras :)

Natural makeup looks for summer: a tutorial featuring Rimmel makeup!

*I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client. At You're In Brookelynn, I only work with brands I support, and all opinions stated are my own.

For me, wearing makeup in the summer can be hard. I want to look cute, but I don't want it to look like I have a caked-on face either! Thankfully, the latest summer makeup trend has been a natural makeup look, which I am totally digging! Today, I'll be partnering with Rimmel makeup and Walmart to show you how to create your own natural makeup look for summer! Also, all of these products are currently on sale at Walmart for $3.97, making them super affordable!

Products used:
Rimmel London Clean Finish Matte Foundation in Soft Ivory
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sunlight
Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Sun Safari
Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner
Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Diamond Dust

The Tutorial:

-First, apply the Clean Finish Matte foundation using a makeup sponge, dabbing onto your face and neck. I really like that this foundation is matte, because I have very oily, acne prone skin. It's perfect for keeping shine under control in the warmer weather!

-Next, sweep some bronzer onto cheeks, forehead, and nose. This gives your face some subtle definition, while also giving you a natural looking tan.

-Apply translucent powder with a big brush over the whole face, to set the bronzer and foundation. This also helps control shine!

-Now, onto your eyes! I chose a palate of browns, which perfectly compliments the 'natural' look we are going for. Use an eyeliner brush to sweep the middle colors (1&2) onto your whole eyelid. Use the darker color (3) in your crease, and the lightest color (4) on the inside corner of your eye, as well as under your brow bone.

-Add a few sweeps of mascara. Finally, finish off with a swipe of the waterproof eyeliner on your upper lashes, and also a hint on the outside corners of the bottom lashes.

-Don't forget some lip gloss!

And there you have it! For more summer looks, check out the Live SoFab digital magazine! You can also find more summer looks featuring Rimmel in the magazine as well.
