The End of Autumn / A New Beginning

Hello there! You may have noticed that I kind of disappered from blogging/the internet for a few months, but I'm happy to say that I am ready to get back at it again! First off, am I the only one who noticed that a bunch of other bloggers decided to come out of hiatus recently too? Is there something in the air? haha.

Anyway, I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety this year- and these past few months have been a real struggle. That's why I decided to take a break from blogging- it had become so forced, and I wasn't doing it for myself anymore. In my time off I reflected about a lot of things, and I want You're In Brookelynn to be a more genuine space for me. I want to use it as a place to grow- to post my photography and art, and talk about life, struggles, work, and whatever else pops in my head.

One of my favorite things to do used to be going out on a walk and taking photos of whatever caught my eye. Over the past few months my anxiety has caused me to become somewhat of a hermit, but a few weeks ago I randomly decided to pick up my camera and take a few photos outside my apartment in between classes. My apartment is literally a 30-second walk from campus, and there is a huge fence across from our parking lot that divides the properties. Every time I walked past it, I noticed the most beautiful red leaves and vines growing on it, and I really wanted to photograph it before all the leaves were gone. (And guess what, they are all gone as of when I am posting this!) Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the photos!

Thanks for reading, and happy Saturday! :)

Late Autumn Wishlist

Hey guys! It's November already, can you believe it? Even though I've been a bit too busy to take any outfit photos, that doesn't mean that I'm constantly shopping for new fall clothes. Here's some of the things that I've been wanting this fall:

Late Autumn Wishlist 2014

1 & 2 / I'm in need of a new jacket, but I can't decide if I want to splurge on an edgy leather one or a classic parka. I absolutely love the look of a leather jacket, and my current leather jacket is extremely worn out. But a nice parka would be so useful for the winter months. Maybe if I find some good deals, I can get one of each, haha!

3 / I'm not really in need of a new scarf, but that doesn't change the fact that I want another one! I love the pattern of this one.

4 / It's honestly been forever since I purchased a dress, and that really needs to change! I haven't been wearing dresses a lot lately just because of marching band, but since the season is coming to an end I'll be able to wear them a lot more!

5 / I'm going to admit something- I only own one plaid/flannel shirt. Crazy, I know. Obviously, I need more!

6 / I'm really drooling over a pair of boots like these! These ones are wayyyy out of my price range, but I love the straps! Plus, I'm pretty confident that I can hunt down a pair that will be more in my 'poor college student' price range.

7 / I've kind of been obsessed with wearing lipstick lately, which is weird because I was never usually into wearing it before. Obviously since it's fall, I've been leaning towards some darker colors like burgundy, but I really want to try a plum or deep berry shade!

8 /  I am in love with these plugs! Ever since sizing up my gauges to 1/2", all of the wood plugs I own are too small. I'd really like a pair in my new size!

9 / Finally, I've been on the look out for a nice pair of boyfriend jeans. I love the lighter wash!

Now that the semester is winding down, I've really been enjoying fall! Lately I've just been curled up binge watching the first season of American Horror Story (how did I never watch this when it first came out? SO GOOD.) with Skylar and some coffee. It's been pretty nice!

How's your fall season been? What's on your wishlist?

Snapshots: Vibrant Autumn

Guys, I finally broke my camera out for the first time in what feels like forever! I started back up on my 365 project (which I'll talk more about later), and have promised myself to take more photos of every day life, too! Anyway, on my little visit to the park over the weekend, I broke out my macro attachments and captured some pretty fall colors :)

I hope you all are having a lovely Wednesday!

Throughout the Years: Favorite Fall Looks

Guys, it's officially fall! Woohoo! The weather has been kind of weird though- it's in that period where it's crisp and fall like in the morning, but you're sweating in the afternoon. But I guess I can't complain!

Anyway, after reading The Clothes Horse's roundup of her fall looks from 2013, I thought it would be fun to roundup my favorite fall outfits that I've ever worn (on the blog, at least!) Plus, I haven't done an outfit post in a while, so I thought this may make up for it :)

Putting this post together kind of makes me miss my red hair! I definitely don't miss the upkeep, but there's something about red hair that just goes so perfect with fall, ya know?

Thanks for reading! ♥

Fall 2013 Bucket List!

How that it's officially fall, I decided to make a little bucket list! Yeah, you might be bored seeing basically every blogger going nuts over fall, but I mean come on, it's clearly the best season. Obviously.

Anyway, I hope you have a lovely hump day :)

Fall Outfit Inspiration

Fall outfit inspiration 1 & 2

Guys, I don't think you understand how excited I am for fall. (hint- it's a lot) I can't wait to wear sweaters and boots and layers and scarves and drink hot cocoa and play in the leaves and go to football games and carve pumpkins and...okay I think you get the idea. Anyways, I basically want to live in outfits like these when the weather cools down. I'm trying to cut back on my spending, so I am planning to thrift my ass off in the coming months :) Prepare for a few 'thrift haul' posts!

I hope you have a lovely Monday and Labor Day! Have any exciting plans?

November goals

November Blue by The Avett Brothers on Grooveshark

I just realized that the last like, 3 posts have all been lists of some sort, but thats okay. I've decided that I need to be a little more disciplined with myself. So I've come up with a list of short-term goals that I will (hopefully!) be able to stick to.

1. Go to the gym at least 2 times a week.  I'll be honest, I've never been 100% happy with my body. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for loving your body no matter what, but I can tell that I've been eating unhealthy lately, and that I get out of breath easily. And I want to get stronger- I would love to get my arabesque past 90 degrees in ballet class! I still love my curves- I just want to be healthier! And I think 2x a week at the gym isn't too demanding.

2. Try a new recipe at least once a week. I will be the first to say that I am the worst at cooking. I think it's time to change that! At least, to where I am at least okay at cooking. Plus, I have a whole pinterest board of recipes that I've never tried! I feel like I need to change that.

3. Clean out my closet. My closet in my apartment is so small, it's actually smaller than the closet was in my dorm room! And that made me realize that I don't actually wear a lot of the clothing I have. I want to purge my closet to make room for things I will actually wear often. And I need to work on investing in good-quality pieces that will last a long time and that I will wear forever.

4. Decorate for the Holidays. I've been insanely slacking on decorating lately. I didn't even decorate for Halloween! So I am determined to make my apartment (or at least my room) festive for the rest of fall, and especially Christmas! You will soon learn that I loveee Christmas.

5. Worry less! I have a problem with anxiety about things in the past. Even small things that happen that make me upset, can affect me for the rest of the day. For example, the other day in Ballet, I was having trouble with a combination across the floor. And it made me feel anxious. What if my teacher thought I was dumb? What if the rest of the dancers in my class thought I was horrible? And this anxiety stayed with me for the rest of the day. I wasn't worrying about ballet class though, I was just getting more anxious about other things that would come up. I just need to learn to let go of worry right when it happens. Hopefully I can find some ways to do that!

Do you guys ever make any seasonal goals?

Halloween roundup!

Happy Halloween everybody! Since I don't have anything really exciting to say today, I've gathered up a few of my favorite Halloween/fall themed posts from some of my favorite blogs to share with you! Enjoy!

---

I've been following Delightfully Tacky for a while now (It was actually the first blog I came across!), and one of her recent posts was about how the autumn foliage can turn any ordinary place (or street) into a beautiful backdrop. And oh my god, it's so true. When the leaves start to change color, no matter where it is, it seems to make the area a bit more magical. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so!

Kayla over at The Dainty Squid dresses her cats up for Halloween every year. I love the gnome, but how adorable is that little Frankenstein kitty? I can't stand the cuteness.
---

Another post from the lovely Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky, but this time it's some delicious treats! I love the fact that when fall comes around, every recipe suddenly has pumpkin in it. And that's okay with me. These are pumpkin cookies with maple frosting. How delicious does that sound? Head over to her blog for the recipe!

---

*swoon* How freakin cute is this? A few days ago on A Beautiful Mess, they shared the story of a girl getting proposed to this way, by her boyfriend carving this pumpkin, and asking her to come outside and "make sure he decorated the porch okay." Boys, take note.

Make sure to go and visit all the blogs in the post, they are fabulous! Happy Halloween!

An early bit of Halloween action!

Hello there :) So this is only going to be a short post about last night, because I unfortunately forgot my camera and didn't want to walk back to my apartment in the rain to get it :( Oh well!

Anywho, last night my boyfriend and his band played a show at The House Cafe with some other awesome bands, and the show was Halloween themed! So obviously, that means costumes! I was probably a little too excited about that aspect, but I will defend my excitedness by saying that I haven't really had an opportunity to dress up for Halloween since middle school, probably. My original plan was to dress up as Columbia from Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I didn't have the time/money to find the sparkly jacket/top hat, so I settled on making a costume from things I already had, so it let me to this vintage girl scout costume.  I had bought this dress in a salvation army sometime last year, and I didn't even know until I looked at the buttons that it was actually a vintage girl scout uniform! I researched it a little bit, and I think this one dates back to the 60s or so, maybe a little later. When I was at the show, and older woman (Spencer's grandma, actually, haha) came up to me and said "I knew you were supposed to be a girlscout! I had the same outfit when I was young, with the socks and the belt and the yellow tie and everything!" That made me feel like I had done my research right, haha.

Now I will leave you with what Skylar (left) and Spencer (right) were dressed like for the festivities:

So sexy.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Fall wishlist!

One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven

In lieu of my last post,  here is everything I am coveting for this fall. I am so excited to start whipping out my scarves and boots and fall colors, and maybe start introducing some new ones into my wardrobe. I have been shopping online for the perfect brown riding boots and black fitted motorcycle jacket for the longest time. Once I get some money, those are the first things I will be splurging on, haha. And I am always in the market for some cute dresses and bags.

Well I am off to take Skylar to work and to see if the Salvation Army is having a sale today. How cheap am I that I steak out to see if the salvation army is having sales? Oh well, I have no shame.

Happy Labor day!

Anticipation

Going back to school has always equaled fall for me. Changing leaves, football games, crisp winds and scarves. And it has occured to me that it technically isn't fall yet. Mostly because it's 90 flippin degrees out. But a part of me likes to believe that it's not, and that it's not actually that hot out, and that i should be okay if I wear a cardigan and jeans tucked into boots, even though it's totally not and I end up at my destination smelly and sweating.

I'm ready for fall. The world needs to catch up with me.
